MCSO Arrests Clifton Man on Attempted First Degree Murder Charges Subsequent to Mesa County Fairgrounds Shooting

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 9:48 pm, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. Two victims sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital. Original incident information can be found here. 26-year-old Jasiel Archuleta of Clifton was detained at the scene and then transported to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Following his interview, Archuleta was arrested and is being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Assault in the First Degree. Updated bond amounts can be found here. This remains an active investigation.
