Palisade Historical Society Schedules “History of Orchard Mesa Irrigation District” Presentation

The Palisade Historical Society’s next monthly history talk at The Ordinary Fellow Winery will be presented by Jackie Fisher, General Manager of the Orchard Mesa Irrigation District. She will talk about the interesting history of the OMID, which began in 1907 and has provided irrigation water to two canals on Orchard Mesa since 1910. It also added a hydroelectric plant in 1933 which was replaced by the improved, higher power Vinelands Power Plant in November 2022. Jackie started working at OMID in 2011 and was promoted to Manager last May.

The history talk will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21st at The Ordinary Fellow Winery, located at 202 Peach Avenue, in Palisade. This program is open to the public and is a relaxed and comfortable setting for people to learn about Palisade’s unique history and enjoy a glass of wine.

The Historical Society’s website: www.historicpalisade.org, Facebook page: Palisade Historical Society, and The Ordinary Fellow Winery’s social media will include information about dates and topics of future history talks.

You can also visit the Palisade History Museum at 3740 G Road. It is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. four days a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
